On Set with Sonny

May 27, 2010

With each day come new locations, excitement and new challenges. Any given shoot day can consist of multiple locations, various cast members and the ever hardworking crew. We have seen a small empty room transformed into a jail cell in a matter of minutes, a high school reunion reenacted by Fort Worth locals willing to give up their night to be extras, and we have seen the pages of the script come to life from the dedication of each and every person involved. From lighting to wardrobe to the talent our actors bring to the stage, the detail and passion that have gone into this film is insurmountable.

Being on a movie set is unlike any other experience. Each day begins with a hot breakfast by our incredible caterer, Shorty. Depending on the particular scene, the cast and crew arrive to set ready for a long day of set dressing, wardrobe, lighting and of course capturing the perfect shots for each scene. Fort Worth has really rallied around Searching for Sonny and our efforts to produce a film entirely in the Fort Worth area. From Albertsons Westcliff Market allowing us into their store in the middle of the night to capture a grocery store scene to Los Vaqueros breaking up our day by providing a delicious Mexican lunch, these local vendors have been an integral part of our low-budget filmmaking process. Coca-Cola set us up to get through these warm Texas days with plenty of water and sodas. With all the hard work everyone is putting in, being well fed and hydrated are vital.

It’s hard to believe that the production phase of Searching for Sonny is so quickly coming to an end. Sonny will wrap shooting the beginning of June and then it’s off to the editing room. Make sure you stay apprised of the progress through our website orFacebook page!
