Jeremy Johnstone – Director
Jeremy Johnstone is a New York City based director of commercials, music videos and narrative film. With a background in both live action and traditional graphic design, Jeremy’s work consists of carefully considered compositions combined with rich, textured dimension to create compelling narratives through live action and animation.
Jeremy was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for his achievements in animation on the title sequence of the AMC show RUBICON. Jeremy has partnered up with Red Productions on many projects including the animated title sequence for their feature length film SEARCHING FOR SONNY, as well as live action projects for New York based clients like Bliss World.
Raised in Portland, OR, Jeremy spent his early years playing in rock bands and shooting super 8mm & 16mm snowboard videos. In 2005, seeking more challenging opportunities, he moved to New York City to fill the role of art director at the Sundance Channel. After conceptualizing and executing the entire The Green campaign, Jeremy left to pursue freelance projects at some of the most successful studios in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. During these 5 years, he directed, designed and animated various commercial projects for Microsoft, IBM, Pepsi, Kodak, Vitman Water, Yahoo, among many other respected brands.
Jeremy’s work has been featured in and recognized by Stash Magazine, Digit Magazine, Computer Arts and Computer Arts Projects magazines, SXSW Film Festival, as well as The Indie Music Video Film Festival, where he won Best Animated Video and Best Performance Video.
Jeremy teamed up with Red Productions for the hit band Wye Oak’s new music video for “Holy Holy.” Be on the lookout for its world premiere in late September.
